FSC (Forest Stewardship Council)，The Forest Stewardship Council is a non-governmental, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting globally responsible forest management. It was founded in 1993 by some international activists who hope to prevent forest destruction. The goal of FSC is to promote globally responsible, socially beneficial, and economically viable forest management activities by establishing widely recognized standards and relevant forest management principles worldwide. FSC itself does not carry out certification work, its main task is to evaluate, authorize, and monitor certification subjects. The certifier must specifically commit to accepting FSC's goals and guidelines and reflecting these goals and guidelines in their certification work.
There are a total of 19 institutions worldwide authorized to implement FSC certification, of which 7 operate in China. For consumers, purchasing wooden products with FSC certification marks can avoid buying products from endangered tree species or illegal logging, ensuring that the products come from forests that can meet the social, economic, and ecological needs of present and future generations, and also supporting Greenpeace. More than 100 million hectares of forests in approximately 79 countries worldwide have obtained FSC certification.
